Deeside wet well enters final days as GRS wins more of the same

The wet well, an eight metre deep precast concrete structure, was installed by a three-man GRS gang over the summer. Every ring section and the cap went in by hand, eye and 77 years of combined experience: Sean, with 47 years in civils, Billy with 30, and Anthony on the machine.

With the structure complete, the pipework has now been tied into the manhole and the road line, and a new finishing gang is on site to close the job out. Sean, Billy and Anthony will return for the final inspection of their own work.

More than 200 families will move in around the chamber and never know it exists. Every bath, every washing machine and every wet February on the development will run through it and nobody will give it a second thought. That is the measure of a good wet well.
